A mini-SEM patch holds eight sounds, each a whole SEM's settings (s2. to s8.), and each voice plays one of them. There can be up to 32 voices, so past eight voices they cannot all have a sound of their own, as every SEM in the hardware does.

Eight was the Eight Voice's number. Raising it is mostly a matter of size: each sound is about 70 parameters now, so 32 sounds would be over 2,000 parameters in the protocol's list, in every patch file and on the page.

Things to settle:

  • Whether anyone wants it. More than eight different sounds at once is no hardware's.
  • If so, whether a patch file should hold only the sounds that some voice plays.

Related, and already noted in CLAUDE.md as wanted later: importing one sound from another patch file.
